The Moss Run (Cavy setup)

We have tried all types of housing/setups indoors and outdoors, trying to find the best that works for both us and the guinea pigs. It is very important to us that the main priority is our little piggies heath and happiness so we are always striving to improve on our enclosures/playpens/run's. You will be be able to browse through our current setup's plus be able to view previous ones for ideas fo your own, all of our current enclosures are always subject to change as we are always coming up with new ways to keep our guinea pigs happy!

Another important aspect of your guinea pig enclosure is it should not be hard for you to access nor clean, whether its a simple weekly clean or a daily spot check. As soon as a cage becomes hard to clean this can make it hard for you to maintain a standard for the health of your pigs, we have numerous times changed our setups as they were too hard to maintain and rule number one here is that no animal becomes a chore! As soon as doing anything in regards to your pets becomes a chore, change it around so that it becomes fun for both owner and animal companion again, whenever we have our cage cleans here we make it a fun activity by setting up playpens for the guinea pigs to explore.

In our experience and current situation we have found indoor setups to be the most appropriate, they are safer for the cavies in many respects. We dont have alot of shelter within our backyard space which means that any outdoor cages must be able to stay element proof without little help, it was not our favoured way of housing our little companions, so they remain inside! There are pro's and con's to both housing inside and out, it really depends on your own environment and what you have access too, it has taken us quite a while to find what works and we are still always changing. So experiement and see what works for you.

Enjoy having a browse through our current and past enclosures, if you have any questions or querries in regards to them feel free to email us at barefoot@hotmail.com.au
